You are invited to join the Literature for Children and Young Adults Program at OSU for a free showing of

    Library of the Early Mind

    6:00pm Friday May 20, 2011
The College Commons (Room 260), Ramseyer Hall
    The Ohio State University

“Library of the Early Mind” (85 minutes) is an exploration of the art and impact of children’s literature on our kids, our culture, and ourselves. From the first stories we hear told to us to those childhood heroes that stay with us a lifetime, the impact on our culture runs deeper than what we might expect. The film features nearly 40 prominent authors and illustrators talking about their work, its genesis and its impact.

A panel discussion will follow the screening, moderated by Dr. Barbara Kiefer, Charlotte Huck Professor of Children’s Literature at OSU featuring:

Edward Delaney, Director of Library of the Early Mind

Dr. Barbara Lehman, Professor of Children’s Literature at OSU

Sally Oddi, owner of Cover to Cover, local children’s bookstore

Kathy Shahbodahgi, head of children’s services at Columbus Metropolitan Library

Connie Pottle, head of children’s services at Delaware Public Library

Light refreshments will be served and parking is available in the Arps Parking Garage next door at $2 per hour. Please RSVP at if possible so that we have an approximate headcount. If you have any questions, please contact

I am broken-hearted that I am just learning of this! Will the DVD be out soon? Or will there be another chance to catch it in Columbus?
