NYPL screening — Nov. 2, 2010

November 4, 2010

This is either Patience or Fortitude, one of NYPL's famed lions.

Many thanks to Betsy Bird and the staff of the New York Public Library’s Children’s Center for hosting a great screening on Tuesday, our first in New York City. We had a lively crowd that included authors R.L. Stine, Brian Pinkney, Dan Yaccarino, and Sergio Ruzzier, among others.

Look soon for our interview with Chelsey Philpot from School Library Journal.

Christopher Robin Milne's original Pooh toys on display in the Children's Room.

Answering audience questions after the screening, with Betsy Bird as moderator.

A good many of the audience stayed afterwards to continue to chat about the topic of children’s literature.

Congratulations on the film! It was interesting and inspiring. I particularly enjoyed seeing writers, illustrators & publishers express themselves so freely. Your movie moves seamlessly between the personal to historical and from a touching to a funny story! I’m so glad I attended the screening. It was nice to see that wing of the library, too. I need to visit more often I guess.

ps Loved Elizabeth Bird’s shoes 🙂
